ABOUT LORRAINEArtistLorraine Williams is an emerging artist, born in Scotland, now living in England, her work spans multiple disciplines and is ever evolving.
She has been creating art since she was tiny. Her poetry has been described as 'wholesome' and 'quite lovely'. Her artwork, as 'free' and 'vibrant'. Words and colours rock her world. Influences include the early loss of her mother, transience, chronic illness, ontology, social change and mindfulness. Also her highly creative single parent father, the Glaswegian jazz musician, amateur photographer and commercial artist, Dave Jenkins, some of whose work is also featured on this site. Lorraine achieved a sociology degree at Liverpool University in the 80s and has had a career in the media, experiential marketing and for not for profits for more than 30 years. She moved to the Kent coast in 2011, is the founder and leader of Mindful Thanet and since 2022 has been the editor of a hyperlocal lifestyle magazine the Broadstairs Beacon (Kent Press and Broadcast Awards joint winner, Magazine of the Year 2024) and has a mixed freelance portfolio, working with a range of mostly creative clients. She frequently performs her poetry on the local circuit when she gets the chance, it has been showcased online by Write On Magazine, Fahmidan Journal and Words from a Distance Festival and she intends to get some of it published at some stage. Her visual art was exhibited and some of it sold at an exhibition in Camden Town in 2010. She's currently working on a new body of work and reviewing her archives. . |
